2nd grade students are working on fish inspired by the book Rainbow Fish.
This student is showing off one of her scales for her fish.
Let's make some scales! Scales are cut out of the glitter/painted paper that students painted on the first day of this project. To make a scale.... first cut a square, next round one side with a scissors, and snip to make a fluffy edge. Start gluing the scales on the tail of the fish. Fluffy edge at the very end of the tail!
Help! I didn't get to paint! If a students misses the painting day for this project let them choose two different colored papers to use for the scales.
The next make one eye using black and white paper.
The first day of this fish project is a painting day. Students get to use glitter paint and liquid watercolor paints. I get to walk around and spray water on the paper/painting and students mix and blend the paints together by rocking the paper back and forth.
